Ill-Health Retirement Assessments Made Simple

Ill-health retirement is one of the most complex employment and pension decisions an organisation can face. Employers and pension trustees must balance fairness, compassion, and sustainability while ensuring decisions are based on reliable evidence.

Ill-Health Retirement Assessments Made Simple

Our Ill-Health Retirement Assessment service provides an independent medical review focused on long-term work capacity, not day-to-day fitness for duty. Employees complete a structured questionnaire, supported by consultant reports and medical evidence. An Occupational Health physician then reviews the history, treatment, prognosis, and functional capacity before providing a clear recommendation on whether criteria for ill-health retirement are met. The resulting report supports HR, line managers, and trustees with clear advice on eligibility for permanent or partial incapacity benefits, ensuring decisions are robust, transparent, and aligned with scheme rules.
